dance workshop w/ Gizeh Muñiz Vengel (may 2025)
Atland is hosting a dance workshop (May 3 & 4, 2025) facilitated by west coast based dancer gizeh muñiz vengel, who will be in residence at Atland this spring. The workshop weekend will kick off with a somatic based conditioning class by local dance artist Ellie Goudie-Averill, followed by a Sat and Sun floorwerk class taught by gizeh.
MOVEMENT INTENSIVE IN COMPOSITIONAL IMPROVISATION w/the architects (june 2025)
Atland is hosting a summer improvisation workshop that will be facilitated by The Architects: Kathy Couch, Katherine Ferrier, Lisa Gonzales, Jennifer Kayle, and Pamela Vail, with guest musician Jason Palamara. The intensive balances in-depth individual exploration with rigorous practice in spontaneous ensemble dance-making. Fresh perceptions and new choices are set in motion daily through provoking, open-ended questions.
Scores of the Invisible: workshop with Cody Cook-Parrott (aug 2025)
Atland is hosting Scores of the Invisible (August 23 & 24, 2025), a workshop facilitated by Northern Michigan based dancer & writer Cody Cook-Parrott, who will be in residence at Atland this summer. Scores of the Invisible is a series of scores Cody has been working on to trace the in between of movement and writing, what we keep private and what we perform, and researching what it means to prioritize solo material within group work.

Join us July 20-27, 2024 in the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts! Come train with renowned dance artists Jennifer Nugent and Lisa Race, and Atland’s 2024 Artist-in-Residence Rafaela Sahyoun (Brazil/Portugal). On the land and in the studio, you will have opportunities to rehearse, get feedback, and show your live work and/or films.

Please join us to explore how (Soma)tic Rituals can help us see the creative viability in everything around us. CAConrad has created writing rituals using the night sky to design homemade star constellations, another ritual to dream with crows, and many others, from talking with trees and ghosts, translating Shakespeare’s sonnets with crystals, and coping with the destroyed wilderness of our planet.
